Ann G. Verber is of counsel with Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel LLP. She is a member of the firm's Litigation Department.
Ms. Verber concentrates her practice in the area of family law, where she handles all phases of the negotiation and litigation of domestic relations cases, including divorce, custody, support, alimony, property distribution, prenuptial agreements, asset protection and related issues. She has been certified as an arbitrator by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Joining Obermayer in 1983, Ms. Verber was named the firm's first woman partner in 1987. Ms. Verber received her Bachelor of Science degree, summa cum laude, from the Ohio State University. She was awarded her Juris Doctor from the Ohio State University School of Law. Ms. Verber is a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and a master member of the Doris Jonas Freed Inn of Court for family law. In 1996, she was elected chair of the Family Law Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association and, in 1997, she was appointed to the Council of the Family Law Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. Other bar-related activities include a term on the Philadelphia Bar Association's Commission on Judicial Selection and Retention and membership on the Board of the Philadelphia Bar Education Center. Participation in civic and community organizations has accompanied Ms. Verber's law-related activities. She was previously a board member and fundraising chair for the Support Center for Child Advocates, past president of the Queen Village Neighbors Civic Association and a board member of the Society Hill Civic Association. She is currently a member of the Boards of Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, Young Audiences of Eastern Pennsylvania, and the South Street Head House Special Services District. She received the Distinguished Advocate Award from the Support Center for Child Advocates and, in 1996, was selected one of Philadelphia's "Women to Watch" by Business Philadelphia magazine, in conjunction with the National Association of Women Business Owners and the Forum of Executive Women. Ms. Verber is named as one of Pennsylvania's "Super Lawyers" as listed in both the Philadelphia magazine (June 2006; June 2005; June 2004) and the Law and Politics Magazine, "Pennsylvania Super Lawyers 2006" and 2004-2005 editions. She is also listed as one of the Top 50 Female Pennsylvania attorneys (2005 & 2006). Ms. Verber is the former editor of the Family Law volume of the Dunlap-Hanna Pennsylvania Forms Series and the author of articles on a variety of topical issues. She is a regular speaker and panelist for a variety of family-law related seminars and programs. She is a member of the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and American Bar Associations and their Family Law sections.
She is licensed in Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia, and is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, the District of Columbia Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of the United States. |
