Arbitration is a technique for resolution of disputes outside of the court system wherein an arbitrator makes a binding decision as to a final award. The advantage of arbitration is that it is often faster and less costly than litigation in court. Arbitration is a private proceeding and there is more flexibility in the arbitration process than with the court system.
