Marriage between individuals of the same sex is not recognized in Pennsylvania, and a marriage between persons of the same sex which was entered into in another state or foreign jurisdiction is void in Pennsylvania. Nevertheless, many of the same issues that arise in heterosexual couples, also arise in same-sex couples including, adoption, assisted reproduction, dissolution of same-sex partners, name changes, custody, guardianship and estate planning. |
